Elevate security

Elevate security and reliability

A phone system is critical infrastructure. Here is what protects Elevate calls and data, what reliability targets the platform publishes, and what you still need to get right on your side.

Why it matters

What businesses worry about

1

What if it goes down?

If calls fail, orders and enquiries stop. Cloud reliability and your own internet resilience both matter.

2

Who can see our calls and data?

Recordings, chats and contact lists contain personal and commercially sensitive information.

3

Is it safe from toll fraud and hacking?

Phone systems are a target for fraud, so access control and monitoring matter.

What you get

Security and resilience features

Secure sign-in

Two-factor authentication and single sign-on options protect user and admin accounts.

Encryption

Traffic is encrypted in transit using modern TLS, and data is protected at rest.

Certified provider

Intermedia, which builds Elevate, publishes ISO 27001 certification, Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus status, and PCI DSS compliance.

Regular security testing

Intermedia states that it carries out penetration testing at least every six months.

Published uptime commitment

Intermedia’s published platform SLA is 99.999 per cent uptime, with service credits under its terms.

Business continuity routing

Calls can ring every device and fall back to mobiles or other numbers if a site loses connectivity.

The platform and your part

Security is shared. The platform provider secures the cloud service, certifies its processes and tests its defences. You secure your sign-ins, devices, network and staff behaviour. We help with the second half: enforcing strong authentication, limiting admin rights, locking down international dialling and reviewing call patterns for anomalies.

Resilience starts with your connection

A 99.999 per cent platform target does not help if the office broadband fails. The usual weak point is the connection. We design for it: business-grade broadband or fibre, a 4G/5G backup where the site cannot afford downtime, and failover call routing to mobiles. Our business internet connectivity team handles this alongside the phones.

Data and compliance

Intermedia’s public documentation says data may be stored in the UK, the European Economic Area and other locations, and that customers do not choose the location. If you have strict data residency requirements, ask us early and we will take it up with the vendor. Combine this with sensible retention settings as described on our call recording and archiving page.

Certifications and SLAs are vendor statements that can change. We can share the current documents on request, and you should rely on those rather than on this summary.

Your questions answered

Is the Elevate phone system secure?+

Elevate supports two-factor authentication and single sign-on, encrypts traffic in transit, and its provider Intermedia publishes security certifications including ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus. Good configuration on your side completes the picture.

What uptime does Elevate promise?+

Intermedia publishes a 99.999 per cent platform uptime SLA, with service credits under its terms. Your own internet connection affects the experience at your site, so resilience planning is important.

Where is my data stored?+

Intermedia states data may be stored in the UK, the European Economic Area and other locations. If you need a specific location, tell us before ordering.

Can calls be intercepted?+

Calls on the platform use encryption in transit, and we recommend secure networks and managed devices for best protection.

How do I protect against toll fraud?+

Use strong sign-in, restrict international and premium-rate dialling, and review call reports. We can set spend and destination controls.

What if my internet fails?+

Calls can reroute to mobiles or other numbers, and staff can work through the mobile app on 4G or 5G. A backup connection adds further protection.

Security steps we recommend

  • ✓ Turn on multi-factor sign-in for every user
  • ✓ Use single sign-on where you have Microsoft 365
  • ✓ Restrict or block international and premium dialling
  • ✓ Limit admin accounts and review them
  • ✓ Add a backup connection for critical sites
  • ✓ Review call reports for odd patterns
